Carbon capture and storage technology, carbon capture and storage sequestration technology has been thought to save the Earth. For those unwilling to change the structure of energy consumption in the country, it has great appeal. However, this technology can really work, is now uncertain. There are many definitions of the CCS, is being widely accepted is the "one from the industrial and energy-related production activities in the separation of carbon dioxide, transport to storage sites, long isolated from the atmosphere of the process." CCS industry chain consists of four components, namely (a) capture, (2) transportation, (3) storage and monitoring, for (4) to increase oil recovery (EOR).

 

Carbon capture


This is the first step, in the fossil-fuel combustion power generation before or after the separation of CO2. There are three ongoing pilot capture technologies, each technology is applicable to different types of power plants.



Carbon transport

CO2 emissions from the source from the compressed transported to storage sites, the most feasible way is to pipe, but the need to use long-distance shipping. Transport technology are relatively mature. There are about 5600 kilometers long the world's land-based CO2 transmission pipeline.



Carbon Sequestration

Storage includes not only the CO2 stored in deep underground, but also on the leak monitoring. Oil and gas fields have been gone into a wide range of geological analysis, the most suitable for CO2 storage sites is the depleted oil and gas fields.
